Alanya University
The Hamdullah Emin Pasha and Harem Hatice Tahire Hanım Foundation (established in 1932), which founded the Private Hamdullah Emin Pasha College in 1978, began its efforts to establish the first university in Alanya as an educational foundation in 2007. On 14 March 2008, two participatory meetings were held and a feasibility report was prepared in the light of the consensus from these meetings.
The foundation made its first official application to the Higher Education Council (YÖK) on the 23rd December 2008 with the number 148/335 by presenting the feasibility report prepared on the 26thAugust 2009 and other required documents. The Higher Education Institutions Unit of YÖK requested some changes in the application file and the requests were fulfilled during the year 2009.
The Board of Trustees for Alanya University was established in 2009 by the founders. The number of the members was 15 in 2010. At the meeting of the delegation dated on the 4th December 2010, the developments in the physical, financial and administrative structure of the University were discussed and the delegation formed sub-groups on these issues.
The application made in 2010 was approved by the Education Commission and presented to the General Assembly of the Higher Education Council and two presentations, the first of which was on the 5th of March 2010, were made to introduce the university at the General Assembly.
Alanya Youth Center, operating 24 hours a day and located at an approximately 500 m distance to our university, is free for our students and it serves as an ideal center for them to make use of their spare times with sports and educational activities. The Center not only provides the opportunity to benefit from free-of-charge foreign language, needlecraft, handicraft, dance courses, sports and art activities, but also beach sports through a tunnel connected to the beach. Services are offered for the young people in any subject they may want or need, with the help of training experts, coaches, sociologists and psychologists.
Educational, entertaining or social responsibility activities are often organized at our university where there are highly active student clubs. In the course of activities, all of which are entirely organized and planned by students, the participating students both gain activity-organization skills and get the chance to enjoy the events themselves.
